Is Cosmetic Surgery Really Cheating????
Most of our patients exercise and try to eat healthy, but sometimes in spite of a healthy lifestyle, it’s hard to see a significant improvement in stubborn fat deposits. So…is it really cheating if you take advantage of new medical treatments (like CoolSculpting and SmartLipo Laser Liposuction) and technologies to help you get rid of those stubborn areas? I think not.
Diet & Exercise
Many times, diet and exercise alone are not enough to achieve significant body shape changes. Areas such as the abdomen, love handles and thighs are very resistant to change. The reason is because “external fat,” the subcutaneous fat that is on top of the muscle, is much harder to improve through diet and exercise. This is why we hear from our patients that they have been exercising and eating healthy but still aren’t noticing much difference in those areas. On the other hand, visceral fat, the fat behind your abdominal muscle wall, is more amenable to diet and exercise. For many of our patients we recommend a combination of body sculpting and diet and exercise, not one or the other.
CoolSculpting & Liposuction
Procedures such as non-invasive fat reduction through CoolSculpting or minimally invasive SmartLipo Triplex Laser Liposuction or Vaser Liposuction offer a great way to reduce those areas not responding to diet and exercise.
A Combination is Best…
We make sure all of our patients understand that a healthy diet and exercise are necessary, even after liposuction, to maintain the results. We encourage our CoolSculpting and Liposuction patients to follow up with our personal trainer, Andrea Hansen, after their procedure so that they can work on the lifestyle side of things too. We see that most patients become more motivated to eat healthier and exercise more after their fat reduction procedure, because they can finally see the results that they have been working for at the gym, but until the treatment had not been able to achieve. Because of these reasons we believe that cosmetic procedures are not “cheating,” but serve as an avenue to improve your hard work at the gym and to motivate you to achieve the body you have always wanted.
