What causes skin laxity?
Loose or saggy skin is a problem for everyone as we age. Skin tightening is one the most common requests we get from patients. As we age, we lose both volume and skin elasticity. Also, with pregnancy and weight gain and loss, our skin stretches, damaging the elastin fibers and causing a loss of natural recoil. Elastin is not spontaneously produced after the age of 25, the cells must be stimulated.
How do you get skin tightening?
Collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid are the building blocks of healthy, lovely skin. To obtain skin tightening, you must stimulate the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. To do that, all of the following requirements must be met:
- The right treatment
- The right skin depth
- The right temperature
- The right duration
Until recently, there has been little success with skin tightening using devices which work through a minimally invasive procedure. This is because most treatments can only stimulate collagen production, and only to a certain degree. These treatments are limited because it is difficult to heat the dermis using an external source without damaging the epidermis in the process. Therefore, other devices are unable to reach a sufficiently high temperature for a long enough time to get significant skin tightening. This led to patients who were disappointed in their results.
Why is the Profound different?
Profound Microneedling Bipolar Radio Frequency (RF) is the first device to attain all of the above requirements, resulting in 100% response rate. That means that there is no such thing as a non-responder. Only one treatment is necessary to see improvement. Profound is non surgical, performed in the office with local numbing medication and minimal downtime.
Profound is revolutionizing how we treat the skin and in many cases delaying or eliminating the need for a surgical face lift or neck lift. In Nebraska, this revolutionary treatment is available exclusively at Imagen Body Sculpting & Cosmetic Center.
